Pretty good for Boarding
by Christina via google ago--years
I used Pet Dominion for boarding my dog while on vacation. I could tell my dog was very comfortable with the staff and felt like it was a very clean and friendly environment to leave an animal. Also they are AKBA members which means they are held to a higher standard. I can't speak for the Vet as I have free Vet care for my dogs so have not used them.

Pet Dominion is the only place I trust with boarding my Kitty. I love that the offer Kitty play sessions, an opportunity to bring a toy from home, and they even provide a report card on your kitty's stay. Thank you Pet Dominion for the peace of mind!

Great Place! I just had my 4 year old pet 2 months ago and I will not trust her in any kennel. I heard about Pet Dominion from the radio and from my cousin's experience. I went to check the place and I have nothing to say but good things about it. The staff is very friendly. Leah toured me to the facility so I can see it for myself. The place where dogs stay and sleep is very clean. The play place is huge and clean too. Seeing the place and meeting the staff gives me a peace of mind for my pet. Their lodging rate is reasonably priced and they also offer affordable activities for your pet.

Pet Dominion is the BEST!! The only place that we'll take our rescue dog Belle. She loves it - it is a treat for her to go to PD - almost more than it is to be fed! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We trust everyone that cares for her there. They are professional and truly want what is best for the pet. It's also quite convenient that there is a veterinary clinic there as well - and those folks are great, too! 5 stars all around . . .

The doctors and staff at Pet Dominion are extraordinary. We have been to Pet Dominion multiple times with our dog and they always exceed expectations. Everyone is always very friendly and welcoming both in person and over the phone. We have been to see the doctors for both sick and healthy visits and they are all very knowledgeable and most importantly, very caring. The technicians are also wonderful and very helpful. I definitely recommend Pet Dominion.

We have boarded our dogs at Pet Dominion for over 10 years and are genuinely impressed with the care we have received from the staff. Dr. Bassett was actually the one who diagnosed our current dog with Addison's Disease and he and his staff has assisted us with our dog's medications, blood tests and shots when he was been there. We highly recommend Pet Dominion when you need a safe, friendly place for your dog!

Our dog Lizzy loves to overnight at Pet Dominion. The staff is very friendly, and she loves the play time with the other dogs. We recommend it!

I have twin miniature pinschers who have been patients of PD since we relocated to the area 1.5 years ago. The staff has always been warm and professional. Dr. Bassett and Dr. Carrier have been very informative and accommodating to my two surrogate "children" throughout any medical issues they've experienced. We did not know anyone when we relocated to the area, but PD has treated us with the attention we expect from a vet clinic. Kudos to PD!

Pet Dominion has known us through 2 dogs and 3 cats, of which we still have 1 dog and 1 cat. In sickness and in health each doctor and staff member have acted professionally and caring with our animals. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I highly recommend their vet services and boarding.

I agree with the pet owner, Lisa who posted on Nov 22, 2011. I attempted to board my dog and I'm not sure who I had spoken with over the phone, but she was abrupt and unfriendly. I ignored this and allowed my dog to try the complimentary daycare prior to boarding. Apparently, their daycare is outside with limited shelter which I didnt realize till dropping my dog off. It was raining nonstop this day, so I phoned and they had my dog outside in the rain! I requested to have him put inside and the same lady acted like it was a problem that i wanted my dog out of the rain!! Are you kiddin' me!! I cancelled my reservation after that. The rest of the attendants seemed polite but that 1 lady, I think was the office manager was rude!! They are also overpriced!!

Working for one (1) of the diagnostic labs, I handpicked Pet Dominion. IMO---excellent staff, reasonable prices, MOST IMPORTANTLY my "granddaughter" Celeste (feline) appears to be returning to GOOD HEALTH!!!!! Technicians will actually return phone calls. So, for Celeste and myself---GREAT CHOICE!!!!!

Pricey, but you get what you pay for! Took Buddy (3 1/2 month old Shih Tzu) here today for his check up and it was a great experience. The staff and Dr.Falter were top notch! Dr. Falter was very empathetic and was very knowledgable, she was poised to answer my questions no matter how small or insignificant they may have been. Buddy was pleased also because when the vaccine was given he got treats for being "such a good boy" We look fwd to our next visit 3 wks from now to get the boosters. Invoice: 223608

I am so glad that I took my cat to Pet Dominion. Everyone there is warm, friendly, and professional. I want to send a special thank-you to Dr. Michael Bassett. He treated my cat with kindness and care, he answered every question patiently, explaining clearly till I understand. What touches me further is that on the second I received a call from the hospital asking how my cat had been doing after the visit, addressing her name! I am convinced that they do believe the poster they put on their wall -- Cats are people too!

I brought my Keeshond, Pippi, for a Bordatella shot. Dr. Falter was very careful to segregate her from another canine patient with a cough. That is the kind of thoughtful care you can expect at Pet Dominion! Sara

Pet Dominion has been taking care of our Golden Retriever for 11 years. As she has gotten older they have accomodated her special needs giving multiple medicines, have an optional orthopedic bed, and have provided veterinary care when needed. Our dog always comes home happy, clean, and healthy. When we walk in they always recognize my dog and call her by name.

I have two little dogs. One is special needs with only three legs. This vet is the best I have ever known. The staff is knowledgeable and very good at fitting you in if you have an emergency. The vets are incredible gentle with the animals and very good at listening. I would recommend this vet for anyone who loves there pet!

Pet Dominion has been taking care of my dog for the past 4 years and I've always been pleased with their service. The staff is always friendly and Dr. Bassett has been the best. I've had some scares as my dog has transitioned into being a senior, but PD has been such a helpful resource.

They saved my dog. My 12 year old great pyrenees got out via the garage one morning. Somehow she managed to get across Rockville Pike during rush hour where one of the techs saw her running around. They chased her down for a solid 30 minutes until finally being able to catch her and call me. I show up to find another tech petting her while I was on my way. After that, we changed vets without a second thought. We've been seeing Dr. Amie Carrier. We could not possibly be any happier. My dog has pretty bad arthritis, and Dr. Amie and the rest of the staff do everything they can to make my old girl as healthy as possible. Switching to Pet Dominion is one of the best choices I've ever made for my pets.

Our dog Shellie has been going to Pet Dominion for over 3 years and always comes home happy and healthy. The staff is super friendly and always seems happy to see her. We also use the vet services here--very thorough and dependable. Even though we moved away from the Shady Grove area we continue to come to Pet Dominion.

Pet Dominion was recommended to us by a friend. We have not been sorry we switched vets. PD is very knowledgable and professional. And we found PD is sympathetic and comforting during the sad times when tough decisions have to be made. Thanks PD and our 4 kitties know they are getting great care when they visit you.

Needed some emergency help and the staff and Dr. Carrier, vet techs Beth and Anthony have been incredible for both my boy, Pico and me! Its been a really hard week made a lot easier by their kindness and patience and willingness to see us as the emergencies come at us. Taking care of a pet can be expensive and its nice to believe in the vet office and the services they offer. At Pet Dominon, they always explain things totally, from what they are doing to the cost. My pets have been a patient for many, many years and will continue to be so. They have gently guided us through life and death. Choose with confidence.

Great Doctors, Great Boarding I've been using Pet dominion for close to two years now. Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Dr Basset and Dr. Falter have been great with my beagle. They are experienced and very patient with both dog and owner! Their boarding facility has also been a great help. I often day-board my dog once a week to get her some exercise. She loves going there and is always pulling on the leash to get through the door. Once again, the boarding staff is very friendly with the dogs, and it shows.

If you need to board your pet while you are away on travel, Pet Dominion is the facility to use! I was very nervous the first time I had to board my German Shepherd, Chance but the staff at Pet Dominion put my mind at ease. I can call anytime to find out how Chance is doing and the staff will even call you if you want updates on your dog or cat. The facility has a variety of activity packages, you can mix and match; the staff is very patient and will work with you to find the package that is best for your pet. It is also both convenient and reassuring that there is a veterinary clinic attached to the boarding facility; should your pet need a last minute vaccination before your trip or should he/she become ill, there is medical staff on premises to care for him/her. Highly recommended!

Dr. Bassett (and for the last several years Dr. Falter) has been taking care of our dog Chance since we adopted him in 1998. Chance is a Chow Golden mix and in his younger years was not always easy to handle during his routine check ups. The doctors and vet techs here always take time to speak with him and calm him down when examining him or performing any procedures which is greatly appreciated. Now that Chance is almost 14 he is pretty laid back but they all still take the time to comfort him during his exams. They always take great care in dealing with his every day health care and special needs (Canine Epilepsy and more recently Megaesophagus). They are excellent at following up an after illness to see how he's recovering. The whole staff at Pet Dominion is very caring and considerate. I truly believe that they have extended his life and we are forever grateful for that. I highly recommend Pet Dominion to anyone looking for the highest quality veterinary care!!

My dog Efe is 10 years old and we have been going to Pet Dominion since he was a puppy. Overall we are very happy with the veterinary services at Pet Dominion. I also used the boarding services for my dog when I was on vacation and although it is little pricey, I was very comfortable knowing if something happens, Efe is in good hands. I also recommend the day care services for the hyper dogs like mine :)

The doctors, technicians and front staff are exceptional. They communicate well with each other and us. Our four-legged babies are always treated gently and with dignity and respect. We always feel comfortable with the diagnosis and prescribed treatment. No matter how busy the practice gets (and they are good so they are busy) we never feel rushed. We highly recommend this practice.

My name is Edileusa Oliveira. My family is from Brazil. Since we came to live here in Derwood our Shih-tzu Kika was always treated in the Pet Dominion. When we travel it always stays at the hotel and always takes all vaccines there. WhenKika was sick she was very well attended and soon improved. We are very happy with the Pet Dominion because our dog is always treated well. I really recommend the Pet Dominion!

Pet Dominion has made owning a escued high energy and accident prone German Shepard much easier. When we adopted him his was grossly underweight - Dr Bassett worked with us to build him up to a fantastic athelete. He took the time to explain to us why in Bear's case veterinary insurance was a good idea (unknown history and very active). Dr Bassett's recommendation has saved us a ton of money on routine checkups but also on the countless emergency visits for various injuries. They also helped us socialize Bear in their doggy day care. After 10 years--- Bear is still very social and excited every time he goes in for day boarding or for longer when the families goes out of town. Dr Falter also showed extreme compassion in treating Annie when she got ill and worked her into their busy schedule for emergency diagnostics and care. I just moved back to the area and was desparate for a GOOD boarding place for my two cats, one who is use to roam the house. The staff was wonderfully proffessional, cheerful and helpful. Set up was easy with paperwork, and I knew my cats were in excellent hands. All the staff was not only knowledgeable but conscientious with pet needs and medical care. Highly recommend this place!

As a new owner with an impending out of town trip, I was shopping around for boarders. With the puppy, I was given a coupon for Pet Dominion, and made the 1 1/2 hour trek to check them out. I found both women on the phone to be curt, unconcerned, and while not rude, certainly not warm. Nevertheless, I made the trek out and after a delay caused by their failure to tell me to bring his rabies certification with me, checked him in for daycare to test it out. I was already turned off by the front desk/phone staff, but after speaking to the care staff (vet techs maybe?) I found them warm and truly enjoyed animals, so I checked him in for half a day, and stuck around in the lot to watch play time. I was essentially chased away by the front desk woman (Leah or Lisa), and so I left. Still, my puppy did well with the other dogs, and I found the direct care staff to be warm and caring. So I decided to go ahead with boarding there for my trip. Prior to dropping off, I made arrangements (though I found the pricing structure and explanations confusing), including meds (which I provided). I dropped him off and went away. I even called the day he was to get his meds, and was told "we administer all meds when we are supposed to" On my return for pick-up, one of the staff commented how surprised he was that my dog was so young, as he had been so calm. Very Wierd- didn't sound like my 10 month old exuberant pup. I was then provided a report card, which says he was super outgoing and loved playing (sounds more like my dog). He had lost 3 lbs. in 3 days (in itself, not a bad thing, but combined with the rest of this story...) I paid for the bill, including for administering his med) I was about to leave when I remembered I had brought a bag of his toys, and needed whatever was left of them back. They got it for me and I left. When I got home and opened the bag, not a single toy looked like it had any wear, and my big puppy is Hard on his toys! On top of that, the treats were all gone, and the meds I had just paid them to administer while he was there were still in the bag. That was the last straw. I requested the manager call and speak to me a certain day. 2x. She called a day late and has not called since. Not going back there.

I took a pet RAT to Pet Dominion, YEARS ago, and they treated her with compassion and dignity. So when I moved back to Derwood, I knew my cat would be treated well there. I was not disappointed. The staff were kind, compassionate and gentle to my frightened, sick, recently-traumatized baby...and they treated her "Mama" with just as much sympathy and concern, even working with my budget where they could. I would recommend this practice to anybody...and already have on several occasions.

I have been a client of Pet Dominion for almost three years now for daycare and overnight lodging for my beagle and I have never had any problems with them nor has my pup. In fact, he loves going there whether just for the day or an overnight stay! The staff are so friendly and they truly care for each pup that comes through the door! Once when he was there for camp he got sick and they took him right to the hopsital side and took care of him and called me at work to let me know what was going on but they were able to take care of him without my having to leave work or anything...the best part -- he went back to playing once he was better! I would recommend Pet Dominion to everyone that has a dog or cat and looking for an affordable yet excellent place for the pets to play/lodge!

We have been going to Pet Dominion for about 10 years and love it. The staff are generally very helpful, and many of them know our dog by name. The vet care is top notch. We've taken four of our pets there over the years and we've always been very happy with the cared they've received. Our dog enjoys boarding there and has a few friends that he sees on a regular basis. The facility is clean and bright with ample parking and a dog walking area in front. I think they're still working the kinks out of the new phone system, but that's a minor quibble. I heartily recommend Pet Dominion.

I have been a client of Pet Dominion for about 10 years now. I can't say enough good things about them! From day one everyone there has been so kind, helpful and compassionate. A few years ago Dr. Basset saved my dog Lucky's life when he went through a health crisis. When he needed more help than they could provide he even took him himself to hospital. All of the veterinarians (Drs. Basset, Carrier and Falter), vet techs and staff are top notch and really care about the animals they treat. I always board Lucky there and they take excellent care of him. To them the dogs are not just charges. They always greet each dog joyfully by name. I never have to worry about him. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely wonderful. We recently decided to change vets to Pet Dominion after being quite disappointed with our previous veterinary care. After reading such great reviews about Dr. Bassett and the staff, we brought our Maltese here for an annual exam. I was more than impressed with the time he spent talking with us and answering our questions, and performed a very thorough exam. The staff here genuinely cares for the health and well being of our dog, we will definitely make Pet Dominion our permanent vet.

All of our pets (3 cats and 2 dogs) come to Pet Dominion. We love Dr. Falter and Dr. Bassett. They are very professional and caring. We used to come to Pet Dominion several years ago but had to change to a closer one because one of our cats always vomit in the car if the ride is longer than, say, 5 minutes. We used this new and closer vet for about a year but we are not happy about them. We finally came back to Pet Dominion and very, very happy.

Truly awesome. My wife accepted a last minute invitation for a beach weekend. Being newly transplanted from the west coast we had no true veterinarian or pet boarding support here. Pet Dominion staff personnel communicated with our old vet, assisted in making a last minute vaccination appointment for our 6 pound Chihuahua, and was still able to accommodate our dog's boarding requirements in enough time for us to enjoy a great beach weekend. Now that's going a step above and beyond!

My dog stayed here while we were out of town for Easter. I am sure he had a good time but he can not write his own review;) My wife did pick the best additional package they provide that includes 3 outside play time during the day. However, they charged us an extra day without a very good explanation. If you don't let them talk you into buying extras, you'll be fine. It is a nice place with friendly staff.

I've used Pet Dominion for veterinary care for my golden retriever for about 2 years now. I absolutely love them and am relieved that after about 4 years of trying other practices, I have found a practice in which I am completely confident. I've had routine visits as well as a couple of emergency appointments for minor problems. Dr. Bassett has been very knowledgeable, caring, patient, and pleasant at every visit. I had an emergency appt with Dr. Falter and she was great. The tech staff are equally caring and capable. They are a bit pricey, but so are other practices in the area that I found to be less competent and I wouldn't lower my rating because of it.

by Tiffany L. via yelp 2012-02-13
I take my Bichon there for annual physical checkup and vaccination. I like Dr. Bassett because he is always patient with my dog and he takes time answering whatever questions I have. Dr. Bassett asks about his condition, habits, and preventative care (heartworm and flee prevention). When I told him I use Interceptor for heartworm prevention, he immediately mentioned to me about the factory recall. I think it is very helpful that he gives updates on news like that so we pet owners are aware. The vet techs and ladies at the front desk are all very nice too.

Our husky had a bad ear infection...
by Kim D. via yelp 2012-02-08
Our husky had a bad ear infection last week and we called his regular vet, but they were booked for the week so we called Pet Dominion and they had an opening the same day.  He was in so much pain that he couldn't fold his ear back like he normally does and whenever he shook his head he would whimper so we took the appointment.  The waiting area and the room we were in were clean (but that didn't last long since it was covered in husky hair quickly, sorry!).  The vet tech was very nice and patient with him.  The doctor we had was quick and knowledgeable.  She verified it was an ear infection and let us know why it might have happened (we bathed him a few days before and probably didn't dry his ears well) and that the bacterial infection can set in very quickly (his ear was so swollen it looked like it had been infected for a weeks, instead of days).  She and another tech trimmed his ear hair and cleaned it up a bit.  We received the medication and exact instructions from both the doctor and the tech vet again before we left.  After two days, his ear looked MUCH better.  Thank you!

I've been bringing my pets here...
by Christine T. via yelp 2012-01-26
I've been bringing my pets here for over 30 years, so I obviously think they are good.  Dr Bassett and the techs. are incredibly caring and compassionate people.  I feel completely safe leaving my babies there for the day when they need to.  I can hear the techs all saying goodbye to my cat as someone carries him out to me.  Dr Bassett is very, very skilled.  If he doesn't know everything about a pet's condition, he'll call around to the Vet Schools and pick their brains to come up with the best thing for your pet. He has also helped by finding the lowest cost source for a very expensive treatment for my cat who had the neccessary technical expertise to do a great job.  The only time I had an experience like Heather L was when there was a non-staff vet temping on a Sunday, she did not last long.

Otherwise, these are people with the knowledge, skills, and compassion that you want taking care of your beloved pet.

Pet Dominion provides both veterinary...
by Lisa I. via yelp 2011-01-30
Pet Dominion provides both veterinary service (non-emergency or 24-hour service) and boarding. We take both of our dogs here to see Dr. Bassett or Dr. Falter (used to be Dr. Garrison) for their annual exams and vaccines. I prefer Dr. Bassett because Dr. Falter is a little...odd. We always receive professional service here, and it is not difficult to get a quick appointment.

This last time we went they informed us that one of our dogs had never received a Lyme vaccine, which is really weird because we have always treated our dogs with the same vaccines (or so we thought). So they give him his first Lyme vaccine, and maybe 5 minutes later the tech comes in and says he's already Lyme positive. Uhhh don't you think you did this in the wrong order? After we left I realized that they charged us for the Lyme vaccine anyway. This is the first time we've had a problem with the veterinary service.

We try to avoid the boarding service of Pet Dominion unless it is an emergency. Our dogs have never come back sick, and I believe that the kennels are large and comfortable enough. However the kennel closes at 7pm, and they don't have overnight staff. Which means your dog's last walk is going to be 7pm at the very latest. The first staff member does not get in until 6am at the earliest. I don't think 10-11 hours between walks is acceptable. Our dogs are walked around 10:30pm when they are at home, and I know this has to be torture for them.
