“I wanted to create something new and different,” says Amy Nichols, owner of Happy Tails Dog Spa. “I have the entrepreneurial experience but didn’t want to do anything with technology.” Amy, an animal lover and pet owner, left her technological job and headed to the dogs. She opened Happy Tails Dog Spa in Tyson’s corner.
This 9,000 square foot canine complex opened in June 2002. It truly is an all-in-one utopia for dogs. Services offered include: dog daycare, cage-free boarding facility with a self-serve dog wash, dog training, a spa for grooming is coming soon, and much more.
Day care fun includes plenty of playtimes in the large gymnasium, doggy paddling in the community pool, and taking doggy naps in the lounge with friends. To ensure a safe environment, dogs are interviewed prior to enrollment in the daycare. Dogs that are too aggressive or too submissive are not suited to the daycare environment. Like temperament dogs are grouped in playgroups. Carole Peeler of C&C Pals provides dog training for Happy Tails Dogs. The training room sports a non-skid floor to optimize training.
Puppy kindergarten, for dogs less than four months old, focuses on simple obedience training, socialization, and provides extra potty breaks.
The Happy Tails boutique provides the animal lover with a plethora of animal related gifts and accessories.
Dog owners wondering how their pet is doing at camp can log onto the Happy Tails website and see their frolicking per via the web cam.
Guest speakers and seminars are planned for the near future to educate owners about various topics of interest.
