Most likely your veterinarian uses a computer to help track the vaccinations your pet receives and when they will be due again, but today computers are playing a vital role in maintaining the health of your pet. Many modern veterinary practices use computers to manage your pet’s complete medical history, to note findings during physical examinations and to document surgical and medical findings with digital images. Technology and the internet allow your veterinarian to consult with other veterinarians and veterinary specialists (such as cardiologists, dermatologists and ophthalmologists) about Fluffy’s heart condition or Kitty’s eye problem. Laminated photo I.D. cards can be made for your pet and utilized in the event your pet is lost or as a brag photo. As these computer technologies continue to develop, the care of our pets will continue to improve, and Fluffy and Kitty will love longer, healthier lives.
